Responsibilities include;
Negotiating with suppliers to develop orders for live jobs.
Maintaining working relationships with key and preferred suppliers.
Processing of orders for goods and services as dictated by the needs of the company.
Negotiating with suppliers to achieve orders at the optimum advantage to the company's requirements, where possible achieving best buy downs on tender rates to jobs.
Value engineering of orders to advise where alternatives provide equal and approved specifications at a commercial or program advantage.
Key requirements;
Essential
Proven experience in procurement or buying -- ideally within the construction, civil engineering and building materials sector. Solid knowledge of construction materials, supplier networks, and market pricing. Time management skills and ability to work to deadlines. Commercial awareness
Desirable
Experience of procurement systems, and competent in the use of Microsoft applications. Good communication skills - confident in handling enquiries and negotiating.
