We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join our Purchasing Department. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, supplies, and services required for production. You will play a key part in ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality, while building strong supplier relationships and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials, goods, and services to meet departmental KPIs.
Establish group buying deals in collaboration with the Procurement Director.
Raise purchase orders, manage delivery schedules, and resolve invoice queries.
Monitor stock levels to minimize working capital while ensuring uninterrupted production.
Support supplier contract negotiations and minimize commercial risks.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and maintain open communication.
Liaise effectively with other departments to support business operations.
Monitor market conditions and identify new products and suppliers.
Evaluate and resolve material quality, pricing, supply, and delivery issues.
Provide cost analysis and support cost reduction initiatives.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and company standards.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Experience & Skills Required:
Essential:
Minimum 1 year experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
Basic proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Knowledge of supply chain principles and ERP/P2P systems.
Attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritise, and make competent decisions.
Proactive problem solver with a can-do attitude.
Preferred:
MCIPS qualification or working towards it.
Contract knowledge.
Data analysis experience.
