We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional with strong practical knowledge of Cable Avoidance Tools (CAT & Genny), specifically the Radiodetection Cat4 and RD800. The successful candidate will be trained and developed to deliver Safe Location and Safe Digging training courses to operatives working around underground utilities. This role plays a vital part in promoting safe excavation practices, protecting both people and infrastructure.
Hours
This position can be either part-time or full-time, with a minimum of 20 hours per week. Working hours can be discussed to suit both the candidate and business needs.
Key Duties
Deliver (and be trained to deliver) structured Safe Location and Safe Digging training courses using Cat4 and RD800 equipment.
Deliver training from our centres in Abercynon, Preston, or London, as well as anywhere in the UK where clients request, so flexibility and willingness to travel is essential.
Share practical, real-world knowledge and ensure delegates gain confidence in equipment use and safety-critical techniques.
Support the design and continuous improvement of training materials and assessments.
Provide clear demonstrations and supervise hands-on practice sessions.
Maintain training equipment to ensure accuracy, safety, and readiness.
Stay up to date with best practices, legislation, and safe digging standards.
Contribute to creating a positive learning environment that encourages delegate engagement.
Requirements
Proven experience in the use of Cable Avoidance Tools, ideally Cat4 and RD800.
Strong knowledge of safe digging practices and utility detection.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Confidence in explaining technical concepts to groups of varying ability.
Ability to adapt and self-manage in a training environment.
Previous training or supervisory experience is advantageous but not essential -- full trainer development will be provided.
A valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK.
