Job description
The Role:
As an Extruder Operator you will be responsible for complete machine operation, to produce WIP and finished goods to pre-defined specifications. Extruder operation includes machine set up, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality assurance.
You will be allocated to a Shift Team and will follow a 3-weekly cycle as follows:
Dayshift 6.00am - 2.00pm Monday - Friday
Nightshift 10.00pm - 6.00am Monday - Thursday
Backshift 2.00pm - 10.00pm Monday - Thursday
Remuneration is 12.60/hr, rising to 13.10/hr on successful completion of the 3-month Probationary Period. (2025 Salary review pending)

What you will do:
Set up and operate extrusion equipment to produce high quality cable components and/or finished goods. You will be responsible for high quality output of goods through raw material selection and processing as per pre-defined manufacturing specifications.
Responsibilty for careful and effective cleaning of extrusion equipment including all tooling and crosshead components. Manage storage of precision tooling to avoid damage.
Clearly interpret written and verbal instructions; e.g. technical and material data, production schedules, machinery setup guides and production specifications.
Verify and record all output by performing critical quality checks throughout manufacture so as to meet stringent internal and external quality standards. Proficient use of micrometers, verniers, shadowgraph and other key measuring equipment required.
Effectively communicate with management, team leaders and other employees within and between shifts- especially during changeovers
Establish and maintain the standards on your shift in your operating area for safety, quality, housekeeping, performance, efficiency, and attendance in line with Company values and expectation
Confidently navigate and select tooling/machinery/equipment to facilitate the correct manufacturing conditions within your work area for the job at hand
Remain focussed on continual development throughout your employment so as to meet the vast manufacturing capabilities of the site; this is namely via peer-to-peer observation, onsite training opportunities and general engagement between work areas on a daily basis
Who we are looking for:
A motivated self-starter who understands the importance of excellent quality and consistency in the workplace without exception.
A meticulous individual with strong technical abilities, ideally familiar with a quality-focused factory environment. Previous experience within polymer extrusion or wire/cable manufacturing is a distinct advantage although training will be provided.
An effective communicator within and between Teams, who can work both independently and within a small, set group.
Someone with an excellent timekeeping record who is reliable and punctual and can meet the shift requirements.
An individual looking to secure long term employment where a hard-working, committed attitude is recognised and valued.
