The Role will be a position which will involve working within our Design Team, alongside our Project Managers and Production Manager.
Please note - there is no remote working available for this role, you must be willing to travel to our office in Chorley, Lancashire each working day,
The Role
As a Workshop CAD Technician, you will be instrumental in transforming conceptual designs into fully detailed technical drawings ready for production. Your work will support the smooth transition from design to manufacture, helping to ensure that every project is delivered to the highest standards. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow within a creative workshop environment.
The main aspect of the role is to produce and analyse detailed design drawings, being able to convert either Designers / Architects design intent drawings (or sketches) into workable technical drawings for joinery manufacture using AutoCAD software.
DXF files will need to be created for CNC machinery, co-ordinating requirements with our Production Manager.
To be conscious of costs and be able to propose design changes and alternative materials if necessary, as part of any value engineering process.
Ensure all drawings comply with project requirements, timelines, and internal standards
Uploading, issuing and managing drawings internally and externally via email or on to document portals.
Ability to attend site to take detailed surveys to assist in the design, manufacture and installation processes.
Liaise with joiners and production staff to ensure technical clarity and resolve design queries.
Ability to work to deadlines and manage workloads accordingly.
Be able to use Excel, Word, Email and undertake any training on the company's document control and HR systems.
Experience & Key Skill Requirements:
Ideal candidate must have a joinery background and been working in a design/drawing office environment previously
Proficiency in AUTOCAD software
The role will predominantly be 2D although as part of drawing services we offer, there is requirements for 3D drawing. Any 3D experience would be useful, although not a necessity.
Solid understanding of technical drawing principles and construction details
Strong organisational skills and a sharp eye for detail
Confident in being able to adapt to help the team work efficiently
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with both creative and technical teams
Flexibility with hours to assist workflow and achieve deadlines
Confident or willing to use a range of software including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word & Excel
Familiar with Retail, Commercial, Hotels and Residential Sectors would be useful, although not a necessity
