CAD Technician / Document Controller



Job Purpose Summary:


To assist with the coordination, production, and issuing of drawings for secured projects, reporting directly to the Managing Director. The role also involves managing document control across all projects. This position is based at our Maldon office and is ideally suited to someone local to the area.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities



Project Coordination:



Manage document control processes using platforms such as Conject, Aconex, 4Projects, Asite, etc., including monitoring changes and distributing information. Handle the submission and approval process for material samples. Understand and determine the full project scope, including measuring, checking, and scheduling materials from drawings and specifications. Schedule and order specialist materials (stone, ceramics, trims, drains, etc.). Monitor and coordinate call-offs for materials kept in stock. Produce and submit O&M Manuals. Obtain and issue relevant CE certification information. Run/attend regular office meetings (e.g., procurement/design meetings) to manage offsite processes from a material perspective.

Design Coordination:



Manage the design process for all active projects, attending meetings, coordinating with stakeholders, and reporting actions to the Director. Produce detailed design drawings using AutoCAD (including setting out, interface details, as built, and production drawings). Prepare construction drawings to obtain quotations for architectural bespoke items, collaborating closely with the Director and suppliers. Oversee factory production planning and assist with the production of bespoke items, ensuring an understanding of design and collaboration on material selection from site templates through to execution. Attend site design and coordination meetings as required.

General:



Perform any other reasonable tasks to support the efficient running of the business.

Requirements



Degree or equivalent qualification in a field demonstrating CAD skills (a construction-related background is preferred but not essential). Proficient in producing technical 2D drawings using AutoCAD. Previous experience with document control systems (Aconex, 4Projects, Conject, Asite, etc.) is preferred but not essential. Ability to produce 3D drawings is beneficial but not required. Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn and adapt to changing project requirements. A full driving licence is preferred due to the need for occasional site visits.

Pay: 30,000.00-40,000.00 per year
