BPE Audio is an acoustic consultancy and audio installation specialist delivering beautifully discreet, high?performance systems for bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels and premium residential spaces. We design and deliver systems that balance musicality, intelligibility and compliance, often in heritage buildings and live trading venues using platforms such as Q?SYS, Dante/AES67, and premium loudspeaker lines (L?Acoustics, Martin Audio, Sonos Architectural). Many projects integrate PTZ cameras, conferencing and control.
The Role
We're hiring a CAD/BIM Technician to produce clear, build?ready drawings and models across the project lifecycle from concept and coordination to as?builts and O&M packs. You'll be the go?to for drawing standards, revision control and model coordination, working closely with Project Engineers, PMs and site teams.
What you'll do
Design Production
Produce 2D/3D drawings: GAs, RCPs with loudspeaker/mic layouts, elevations, sections, equipment locations, cable containment and penetrations.
Create AV/Audio schematics, single?line diagrams, risers, patch panels and IO/device schedules.
Generate rack layouts, cable schedules, labelling plans and legends.
Prepare tidy, complete as?built drawing sets and O&M documentation.
BIM & Coordination
Build and maintain Revit models; create/modify parametric families (speakers, racks, panels, PTZ cameras).
Set up templates, view templates, filters, shared parameters and schedules; manage worksets and links.
Coordinate with Architecture/MEP/IT; export IFC/NWC, run clash detection (Navisworks Manage) and issue tracker updates.
Work to the BIM Execution Plan and ISO 19650 naming, revision and information management standards within the CDE (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360).
Surveys & Site Support
Attend site surveys; capture dimensional data (laser/360 imagery), verify constraints, mark?up redlines for field changes.
Translate survey outputs into coordinated drawings and model updates.
Standards & Governance
Maintain BPE drawing standards: title blocks, layer/line types, symbols, northing, scale, sheet indexing and version control.
Contribute to libraries (blocks, Revit families), detail sheets and best?practice notes.
Support compliance packs (RAMS references, fire?stopping details, penetrations schedules) alongside engineering.
What you'll bring
Essential
3+ years as a CAD/BIM Technician in AV/ELV/MEP or related built?environment discipline.
Strong AutoCAD and professional?level Revit (families, worksharing, links, schedules, templates).
Ability to read architectural/MEP drawings and translate design intent into coordinated AV layouts.
Good grasp of AV basics (terminations, cable types, containment, patching, equipment mounting).
Experience creating clear schematics (AutoCAD/Visio) and rack elevations.
Working knowledge of ISO 19650, drawing conventions and revision control within a CDE.
High attention to detail, methodical file management and on?time delivery.
Right to work in the UK; full UK driving licence; willingness to attend sites across the UK.
Nice to have
Navisworks Manage (clash detection), Bluebeam Revu, Dynamo, Enscape/Twinmotion.
Acoustic/AV tools: EASE/EASE Focus, Q?SYS Designer (read?only literacy), D?Tools/XT.
Heritage/listed building experience; understanding of UK noise and planning constraints.
Tickets: CSCS/ECS, IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness.
Basic networking literacy (VLANs, PoE budgets) for coordination with IT.
What success looks like
90 days: Template and family libraries refreshed; active projects issued to standard with consistent sheet sets.
6 months: Clash?free coordinated outputs; reduced RFIs; prompt revision turnaround.
12 months: Repeatable BIM workflows in place; O&M packs consistently praised by clients and contractors.
KPIs (examples)
On?time drawing issues; RFI turnaround time.
Clash detection/coordination defects resolved per issue cycle.
As?built documentation completeness score.
Reduction in site variations attributable to drawings.
Library adoption and standard compliance.
