Greens @ MPT is a well-established, community-focused cafe in Morpeth. We're now looking for a
Cafe Manager
who wants genuine responsibility, real autonomy, and the chance to run a cafe as if it were their own.
This role suits someone who cares deeply about standards, understands the commercial realities behind the counter, and takes pride in leading a team properly - not just filling shifts.
The Role
You will have
full day-to-day responsibility
for the cafe, with the freedom to manage rotas, control costs, develop the team, and drive performance.
You won't be micromanaged. You will be trusted.
Success in this role is about improving profitability through better wage control, stronger margins, and consistent sales growth - while maintaining a positive, well-led working environment. This is not a clock-watching role.
Key Responsibilities
Run the cafe as if it's your own business
Drive
sales growth
through strong standards and customer experience
Maintain tight
wage control

Improve
gross margin
through effective ordering and stock management
Recruit, train and motivate a small, capable team
Lead from the front and set the tone day-to-day
Ensure food safety, compliance and operational standards are met

Full control over staff rotas
This is a leadership role, not a shift-counting exercise, but it offers far better balance than many hospitality management positions.

What We're Looking For
Proven experience managing people in hospitality or a transferable environment
Commercial awareness - you understand how wages, margins and sales connect
A hands-on leader who leads by example
Someone who takes ownership and responsibility
Not a clock-watcher. This role suits people who care about outcomes
