We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cafe Supervisor to support the Cafe Manger by overseeing the daily operations of our cafe. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for hospitality, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This role requires a blend of culinary expertise, team management, and operational oversight to create a welcoming environment for both staff and patrons.
Responsibilities
Supervise daily cafe operations, ensuring efficient service and adherence to food safety standards.
Manage food preparation and production processes, maintaining high quality in all offerings.
Lead and motivate a team of baristas and front of house staff, fostering a positive work environment.
Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and managing stock levels.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the cafe.
Train new staff in food preparation techniques, barista training,customer service, and cafe policies.
Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and courtesy.
Develop menus in collaboration with culinary staff, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Delegate front of house duties to the staff team..
Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Policy and Food Hygiene System both front of house and kitchen, taking responsibility for corrective action.
Undertake all work detailed on the opening schedule delegating tasks to front of house assistants.
Liaise with the Chef on food availability and inform all staff of any menu items which are unavailable.
Deal with any customer concerns in a professional, timely and polite manner.
Experience
Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
Strong culinary experience with knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
Previous experience in a cafe or barista setting is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively, showcasing leadership skills.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
Ensure the security of the building at the end of each day.
Requirements:
Experience in the food sector, catering and hospitality.
Barista training
Experience of staff management.
Experience of financial management desirable.
A flexible and 'hands-on' approach in which, where necessary, all staff work at different parts of the enterprise.
Nominated key holder to lock up.
Monitor deliveries from suppliers making sure all delivery notes/invoices have been checked.
Ensure the completion of the weekly cleaning rota delegating tasks to the staff team as appropriate.
