We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cafe supervisor to oversee the daily operations at Ori Caffe within the John Lewis Store Cambridge. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality and food service, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team. This role requires a passion for culinary excellence, food safety, and customer satisfaction, ensuring that our cafe remains a welcoming and vibrant space for all patrons.
Responsibilities
Supervise daily cafe operations, ensuring smooth service delivery and high-quality food preparation.
Manage and train staff, fostering a positive team environment while enhancing their skills in food production and hospitality.
Oversee food safety protocols and maintain compliance with health regulations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety are upheld.
Develop menus in collaboration with the culinary team, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Handle inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimising waste through efficient food production practices.
Provide excellent customer service by engaging with patrons, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with their dining experience.
Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours while managing labour costs effectively.
Implement marketing strategies to promote cafe offerings and increase customer engagement.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a supervisory role within a cafe or restaurant setting is essential.
Strong culinary experience with knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen management.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Previous experience as a barista or in hotel management is advantageous.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with staff and customers alike.
