Purpose of the Role
To lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for people living with dementia and their unpaid carers at the Sheen Lane Dementia Cafe. You will oversee the cafe team, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where dignity, privacy, and individuality are upheld. You will also monitor performance, support reflective practice, and contribute to the cafe's ongoing development in line with Crossroads Care's values and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Coordination
Lead the cafe team, including Support Workers and volunteers, ensuring effective task allocation and a collaborative working environment
Open and close the Centre, ensuring all practical and safety procedures are followed
Provide clear guidance and support to staff and volunteers during cafe sessions
Liaise with the Crossroads Office regarding staffing, sickness, and care plan updates
Dementia-Informed Care
Oversee care for cafe users with dementia, with or without their carers, ensuring safety and emotional wellbeing
Facilitate individual and group activities that promote independence and engagement
Monitor and report changes in mental or social state and take appropriate action
Implement and evaluate individual care plans in collaboration with the core Crossroads Management Team
Operational Oversight
Ensure care plans, MAR charts, and communication sheets are maintained and compliant
Support accurate documentation in care notes and incident reports
Share relevant information with the team regarding safety, care plans, and emergency procedures
Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding principles
Environment & Experience
Foster a clean, friendly, and inclusive cafe atmosphere
Welcome new visitors and introduce them to the team and other cafe users
Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and cultural needs
Ensure effective use of resources and uphold infection control, food handling, and moving and handling procedures
Monitoring & Quality Assurance
Prepare monitoring and evaluation reports on cafe performance and outcomes
Participate in reflective practice, supervision, and quality assurance programmes
Be fully conversant with Crossroads Care policies and procedures
Communication & Engagement
Communicate clearly and respectfully with cafe users, carers, visitors, and team members
Coordinate with other organisations to enhance session delivery
Represent the cafe's ethos and values in all interactions
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: 16.14-18.43 per hour
Expected hours: 16 - 20 per week
