We are seeking a proactive and experienced

Cafe

Shift Leader

to oversee daily operations within our community cafe. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food service, and the ability to manage a team effectively. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in restaurant or hospitality settings to advance their careers while contributing to a dynamic team.

Responsibilities



Key responsibilities & Person Specification o To help to create a warm, welcoming and safe environment for all users of the cafe. To help to promote the cafe so that it adds value to the wider community. To effectively engage with customers, user groups, and volunteers who may visit the cafe. Be responsible for the daily opening and closing of the cafe as required. Manage the cafe shift, its menu, the volunteers on it, supporting any events and activities taking place during the shift, cleaning and close down leaving the cafe ready for any out of hours events taking place and/or the next day opening. To provide stock requirements weekly. Accepting deliveries of goods, checking, signing and ensuring they get stored away properly in fridge, freezer or dry store and organise and keep updated cleaning schedules. To take the lead in the food preparation and cooking on the shift. To ensure full compliance in food hygiene and help maintain associated records. To keep the kitchen, seating area and its constituent parts clean and well m maintained including the defrosting of frosted up freezers. To take day-to day accountability for record-keeping. Support the Church leadership team in the sustainable management of the cafe including suggesting initiatives for improvements in service, products, methods or operations. Essential Be able to lead a team and be part of a team. Provide motivation and inspiration to volunteers. Excellent customer service skills Proven track record of team work Cooking skills Food safety certifications, including Level 3 food hygiene and allergens certification or commitment to achieve them within the first month of employment. To demonstrate, by example, the ethos and objectives of the cafe. Desirable Catering/hospitality qualifications First Aid qualification Catering/hospitality experience Cash handling experience Barista training Able to work with minimal supervision
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.60 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 26 per week

Work Location: In person
