Established in December 2005 and located on Holywood High Street, Coffee Yard is more than just a coffee shop - it has become a second home to many of our regular customers. It incorporates, a variety of seating areas and a large dog friendly conservatory, an integrated art gallery and gift shop. It is a vibrant, spacious, family owned/run business. Coffee Yard is open six days Mon-Sat with no late nights or Sundays giving staff a good work/life balance.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Team Member to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of customer service while assisting with taking orders / operating a till / food / drink preparation and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Your passion for food, coffee and commitment to quality will contribute to an enjoyable experience for our customers. Candidates should be enthusiastic, willing to learn, have good attention to detail and understand the importance of excellent service, quality and food hygiene.

24-30 hours per week (6-9 hour shifts can be set days if required)

Availability on Mondays and Fridays preferable but not essential

Flexibility is preferable but again not essential

All breaks are paid 15min and 30 minute per 8 hour shift

Duties

Greet customers warmly and take their orders efficiently at the till Prepare and plate food items ready for service at the pass in accordance with established recipes and food safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, including the cafe area and kitchen equipment. Upsell menu items to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales. Manage time effectively to ensure prompt service during busy periods. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety practices. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations throughout the cafe.

Skills

Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe environment is preferred but not essential. Culinary skills with an understanding of food preparation technique would be useful. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of food safety standards is desirable. Ability to upsell products effectively, enhancing customer experience. A friendly disposition with strong communication skills, ensuring positive interactions with customers and colleagues alike.
