Gallagher Securities provides strategic advice to companies in the insurance and reinsurance industry on capital markets solutions, including Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS), derivatives, capital raising, and selected merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory activities.
Gallagher Securities has over 40 professionals and staff in New York, London, Paris and Florida who are fully integrated with Gallagher Re.
Gallagher Re's clients are increasingly focusing on optimising their balance sheet and risk exposure through bespoke structured reinsurance and capital solutions. There is an increased demand for strategic use of third-party capital in the form of sidecars, bonds, collateralised reinsurance, and Lloyd's of London-based capital vehicles.
Expansion of the ILS market beyond Property catastrophe into broader lines of business including Casualty and Cyber, represents a big growth opportunity.
The role: Financial Analyst
We are seeking to hire a Financial Analyst to join our Capital Advisory team based in London (City).
In this role, you will be collaborating closely with the team and broader leaders at the company to develop and execute on a variety of strategic advisory propositions
In this role, you will apply your expertise in finance and banking analyses to provide outstanding client service and contribute to the ambitious growth targets of the team.
This position requires a highly analytical and motivated individual with a curiosity to learn and ability to evaluate markets, analyze companies and build financial models and strategic business cases. We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, happy to support meetings and deliver risk solutions.
How you'll make an impact
The role holder will support senior colleagues with the origination and execution of strategic alternative capital transactions, including sidecars, collateralised reinsurance, and Lloyd's capital.
The role will suit an ambitious professional who aspires to build on their technical expertise in a front office commercial role and further develop their professional skills and network.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
Researching and developing content for strategic meetings with clients regarding industry trends, capital market activities & transactions
Interacting with senior team members and client management teams to execute transactions. The exact activities vary by client but often involve:
+ Conducting financial analysis of financial information, industry research and benchmarking with peer groups
+ Developing and maintaining a financial model for the transaction
+ Preparing presentation materials for client discussions
+ Project management activities, including liaison with clients and investors Contributing content to pitch books and other origination activities on an ad hoc basis
About You
Required Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in M&A transactions (both in Investment Banking or Transaction Services) and/or a similar role within Corporate Development or Capital Advisory
Excellent business acumen and understanding of key business drivers and metrics, ideally in the Insurance sector
Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with an ability to build complex operating, financial and valuation models to evaluate transaction economics
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and proactive mindset
Great attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint in particular)
