Our portfolio is wide ranging and encompasses multi-disciplinary specialist delivery capabilities on projects including bridges and tunnels, flood alleviation, environmental infrastructure, aviation, power, energy and much more.



Our in-house, specialist steel fabrication facility and team has grown rapidly, producing heavy steel structures for rail upgrades, lift shafts, bridges, locks, and more.



This is a strategic role, responsible for preparing and presenting the capital investment business case for the prospective development of our Fabrication Workshop, a critical component of the

AmcoGiffen

Strategic Business Plan.

The Role




As Capital Projects Controller, your primary responsibility is to develop and deliver a robust CAPEX business case for the Fabrication Workshop.


Key accountabilities include:

Leading the

capital project appraisal and investment planning process

for the workshop. Analysing current financial performance, including in-house vs outsourced fabrication benefits. Designing and implementing new KPIs (Safety, Efficiency, Finance, Quality) with monthly reporting. Reviewing workshop capacity, utilisation, and future requirements. Identifying and costing maintenance, compliance, and development needs. Overseeing input from quantity surveying and estimating teams to ensure accurate capital cost planning. Presenting the completed business case to the Senior Management Board in June 2026 for inclusion in the FY27 Business Plan.


This role places you at the centre of strategic decision-making, working closely with Operations, Finance, Commercial, Engineering, and Executive teams.

About You




We're seeking a

qualified accountant

with proven expertise in

capital project appraisal and investment planning

. You'll combine financial rigour with commercial insight, ensuring the business case is both credible and compelling.

Essential Skills & Qualifications



Significant experience, post qualified with professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Senior level financial management in an industrial /manufacturing factory environment Significant post-qualification experience in manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication, with a clear understanding of how to develop dashboard KPIs for a manufacturing senior leadership team. Demonstrable and proven experience in capital project planning in an industrial/manufacturing environment. Strong background in management accounts and financial performance reporting. Board level presentation skills and experience Advanced data analytics skills (Excel, PowerBI or similar). Experience in business partnering, working across functions to influence and challenge. Excellent attention to detail and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Strong presentation skills - confident in preparing and delivering board-level reports. Flexible, proactive work ethic with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Passionate about driving operational excellence and contributing to long-term business success.
