POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibilities of Captain/Head Waiter are to exemplify uncompromising hospitality, providing our guests with the finest food and beverages, accompanied by courteous, efficient and knowledgeable service to guests throughout their dining experience
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Restaurant management team in the development and training of waiters according to yearly training plan and as required
Coach waiters to develop their skills and maximize their performance
Give clear direction and guidelines to waiters
Attend mandatory pre-shift briefings, line up before service
Arrive to work on time for shift
Ensure that tables are set to standards
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform while working
Present menus to customers and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations
Inform customers of the specials
Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods (grilled, salt baked, pan-fried
Ensure orders are entered correctly on POS (Point of Sales) and orders delivered on time
Ensure food presentation is up to par before serving it
Serve food or beverages for guests: prepare and serve special dishes at the table if required
Assure needs of guests are continually being met in a courteous and professional manner throughout the duration of their visit
Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
Check customer personal ID in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
Prepare checks that itemize and total meals costs and sales taxes, present, accept payments and provide change or credit card receipts. Follow appropriate accounting procedures for closing checks
Keep waiter stations organized, clean set up and take down stations appropriately
Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
May be asked to perform side work such as the following: stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware and liners
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Business Management
Aware of department targets and objectives, and to strive for their achievement. To be aware of the venue's financial targets as a whole
Take positive action to meet department objectives and targets
Proactive in maximizing sales and generating revenue.
Effective communicator with guests/clients and at all levels of the venue
Follow procedures concerning recoding stock movements e.g. correct charging of F&B items
Ensure security, functionality and proper handling of company property in the department
Fully conversant with all the menu items and their presentation
Check the bill and ensure it is correct before presenting it to the guest

Assist in ensuring that the department complies with all statutory and legal requirements, including fire, H&S, Licensing and employment
Clear working knowledge of all company policies and operate within them all the times
Undertake any other duties as and when required by Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Fluent English speaker
High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred
At least 2-3 years of experience in a related field, preferably in hotels or restaurants
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
Ability to display warmth and hospitality
Flexible and long hours sometimes required
Ability to stand during the entire shift
Exerting up to 25kgs of force occasionally, and / or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Knowledge POS systems is a plus
Knowledge of Greek cuisine is a plus
Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK, without restrictions. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from all candidates.
COMPENSATION
The position is paid an hourly rate up to 21.00. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
