Do you have experience as a controller for a parking, taxi, or meet-and-greet provider? Have you got previous experience managing a team of drivers or individuals? Do you have exceptional organisational and communication skills? If so, please read on.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time controller to join our award-winning meet-and-greet car parking operation at Gatwick Airport, offering valet parking services to those travelling to and from Gatwick.
About Us
Tudor Rose Gatwick Parking has been established in the meet-and-greet valet parking industry for 33 years, and is an integral member of the meet and greet community based at Gatwick. As part of the Independent Airport Parking Association (IAPA) and as an approved operator, we value our reputation, customer service and our ability to kickstart our clients' holidays with a stress-free parking service.
About the role
Reporting to the company management team, our Controller will be responsible for managing all client arrivals and returns during their shift, liaising directly with clients over the phone, and organising and managing drivers to ensure the swift collection and return of clients' vehicles.
Time-keeping is immensely important, as is the ability to provide a welcoming and reassuring level of customer service. The Controller will have to work under pressure, and be able to manage a large number of incoming calls during busy times. The Controller will be required to understand all company processes, including unexpected early returns, supplementary fees for late arrivals or returns, and any additional services Tudor Rose provides.
In full, the Controller will be responsible for:
Ensuring our drivers are delivered to the airport - to the correct terminal - in a timely manner to collect clients' cars on arrival at the airport
Ensuring our drivers deliver clients' cars back to the airport - to the correct terminal - within 15 minutes of the clients announcing their arrival and collection of their luggage
Collecting drivers from the airport promptly, to ensure the driver is then ready to collect or return their next car
Ensuring that the Controller phone is monitored throughout the shift, and a first class service is delivered to all our clients, to ensure clients feel respected, cared for, and that their vehicle is in safe hands
Monitoring flights throughout the day for all client returns, to ensure the team is aware of when a client is likely to call to collect their vehicle, so that their vehicle can be prepared, and to ensure cars can be moved to unblock other vehicles, or be unblocked, when flights are either early or delayed.
Sending drivers to deliver and collect cars from the local car wash, for those clients that have paid extra for our valet services. Cars must be delivered and returned within a 3-hour timeframe.
Working with the company management team and office staff to report any issues such as staff sickness, client complaints, vehicle damage (incredibly rare), and so forth.
Working with the other Controllers to ensure a smooth handover takes place at the beginning and the end of every shift.
Mentoring drivers to keep them motivated and professional, and ensuring all drivers are maintaining a high-level of service, are appropriately dressed in uniform, and arrive for their shift on time.
About you
The ideal candidate will have strong verbal communication skills when dealing with clients and colleagues. You will also be good at building relationships with your fellow colleagues. Many of our drivers have worked for the company for a number of years, and it's important they are treated with respect, despite being their team leader during your shift. Other requirements include:
Being a proactive thinker, coming up with solutions to problems before addressing these with the managers/owners.
Flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to multitask and prioritise when under pressure.
Highly organised, with good attention to detail.
Ability to work closely within our friendly team, whilst assuming responsibility for key aspects of the role with an ability to work on your own initiative without constant supervision.
A good telephone manner is essential.
The ability to work well under pressure, to ensure that our clients are at the forefront of any issues, and regardless of any hold ups, are still given a first class service.
