As a Car Sales Preparation Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all vehicles meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and presentation before they reach our customers. Your expertise will contribute to delivering an exceptional customer experience, built on trust and honesty
Key Responsibilities
Used Vehicle Inspections (UVI):
Carry out UVIs to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and meet all safety standards prior to sale.
Vehicle Inspection & Preparation:
Conduct comprehensive inspections of used vehicles to assess mechanical and cosmetic condition. To carry out required mechanical preparation, quickly and professionally.
Report inspection to the Sales Manager:
Report and discuss inspection findings with the sales manager to plan required preparation works.
Servicing & Repairs:
Perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on the used vehicle inventory to manufacturer specifications.
Cosmetic Enhancements:
Address minor cosmetic issues such as damaged trims.
Accessory Installation:
Install and adjust vehicle accessories, such as parking sensors, dash cams etc, as required.
Documentation:
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately, including UVI check sheets, service records and warranty documentation.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales department and valeting teams to ensure vehicles are showroom ready at the soonest possible opportunity.
Warranty inspections:
To inspect vehicles returning under warranty to diagnose possible fault. Rectification of the issue found to a high standard quickly and efficiently to minimise customer inconvenience.
Management of stock inventory:
To maintain used stock inventory is always prepared and available to be test driven.
Additional duties:
Additional duties may include the following, assisting with collection / deliveries, basic valeting of vehicles, assistance with the main workshop if required, coverage at another site should it be required.
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
Experience:
Proven experience in vehicle preparation, servicing, or maintenance. Main dealer experience is desirable but not essential.
Driving Licence:
Full, valid UK driving licence. (maximum 6-penalty points)
Tools:
Own hand tools are essential. (special tooling supplied)
Attributes:
Strong attention to detail, good communicator, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines.
Desirable Attributes (not essential)
Experience with multi-brands, MOT accreditation
Knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicle systems.
Ability to perform smart repairs and cosmetic enhancements.
