The role would be office/home hybrid based in Bristol. We can offer candidates alternative office locations in London, Brighton, Leeds or Warrington. Occasional travel may be required for specific project needs such as meetings.

The Role



We have a number of projects in the aviation sector and are seeking a carbon and climate change consultant with experience in the aviation sector to join our team. We work with major airports to deliver carbon and climate change assessments primarily associated to expansion projects and planning applications, but also to support day-to-day carbon management and climate change planning.

Outside of aviation, our work includes supporting clients in the assessment of climate change impacts of projects in a wide range of sectors including renewable energy, transport infrastructure and industry. We work with developers, designers and engineers to ensure each new development minimises its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, aligns to net zero goals, and is resilient and adaptable to future climate change impacts. We develop GHG inventories for a wide variety of projects and developments, produce GHG and climate change assessments for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning, and advise on setting emission reduction targets. We also help clients develop climate-related strategies, undertake climate change risk assessments and provide technical, scientific, and socioeconomic advice, based on objective, impartial and evidence-based analysis of a climate change policy.

The successful candidate will join the team to support deliver carbon and climate change work on major aviation projects, as well as help to support a wide range of on-going GHG and climate change projects to support EIAs.

Skills and experience we are looking for



Candidates will need to be able to work on their own and as part of a team, sharing responsibility for the management of both projects and staff.

Key Skills



Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in all or most of the following:

Direct experience in or high level of understanding of the aviation sector. An understanding of UK and international climate legislation and policy drivers. Understanding of or experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Experience in major infrastructure projects. Experience in engagement and collaboration with a range of stakeholders including technical subject matter experts, academia, industry, local and national Government and regulators. Experience in drafting technical reports for non-technical audiences (such as Environmental Statement chapters). Track-record in the consultancy sector. Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear and concise reports in English. High technical capability and ability to review and interpret data. Organisation, initiative, and the ability to plan your work and adhere to fixed deadlines.

Desirable Qualifications



MSc or higher in an appropriate science or engineering-based discipline. Membership of relevant professional institutions.
