Job Summary
This is a Clinical Fellow position responsible for the daily admission and management of patients on the cardiac unit, comprised of both medical and post-op surgical cardiac/cardiothoracic patients. The clinical fellow will also provide peri-operative care for general surgical patients with close support from the consultants. A suitable candidate should be competent in the assessment and management of relevant clinical conditions related to cardiac procedures such as cardiac ablation, pacemaker insertion, TAVI and percutaneous coronary intervention, and cardiothoracic surgery including coronary artery bypass graft, valve replacement, pneumonectomy and lobectomy. The fellow is expected to manage the medical aspect of general surgical patients; surgical care will be delivered by the surgical consultant in charge. An ideal candidate would be a CMT to ST grade) in Cardiology or Cardiothoracic Surgery and hold relevant certifications such as MRCP, MRCS/FRCS or equivalent.

Cleveland Clinic London is pioneering a parallel clinical fellowship model with a unique focus on hospital activation work, EPIC electronic medical record software, and healthcare informatics. With the vision of becoming the most technologically advanced hospital in the United Kingdom, we have reserved a limited number of positions for fellows who have a keen interest in learning how to optimise and leverage technology specifically related to the EPIC electronic medical system and integrated clinical applications. The fellow would be brought onboard in July 2021 prior to the January 2022 opening to obtain a deep understanding our electronic medical record system and informatics strategies. From there, the fellows would develop expertise in both technology and simulation and ultimately act as ambassadors to facilitate the integration of health informatics systems within the organisation from the day of opening and onwards.

Job Responsibilities:
Clinical
Working as a part of the Cardiac/Cardiothoracic fellow workforce covering an average fill of 25 beds of the acute wardWorking collaboratively with specialist consultants and nursing professionals to ensure that patients' treatment and care needs are met.
Being a part of the rolling rota covering a 24-7 acute service in the Cardiac/Cardiovascular and General Surgical unit.
Managing cardiac/cardiothoracic patients including those are undergoing cardiac procedures such as cardiac ablation, pacemaker insertion, TAVI and percutaneous coronary intervention, and cardiothoracic operations including coronary artery bypass graft, valve replacement and pulmonary resections.
Medical management of peri-operative general surgical patients who are undergoing general surgical operations such as colectomy, hepatobiliary and urological procedures, whilst the surgical input will be provided by the consultant.
Leading and assisting with new admissions and inpatient consultations, including morning and evening multidisciplinary ward rounds.
Proactively identifying patients who qualify for early mobilisation, are at clinical risk or may need a longer length of stay.
