About the Role



As a Care and Support Worker, you will provide personal care, practical assistance, and emotional support to our customers, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives and remain as independent as possible. You will work as part of a caring and dedicated team, providing individualised support tailored to each person's unique needs.

Your daily duties may include, but are not limited to:

Supporting individuals with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, grooming, and continence care, always respecting privacy and dignity.

Assisting with mobility, transfers, and the safe use of mobility equipment.

Providing practical help with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.

Accompanying clients to appointments, social activities, and community events.

Offering companionship, emotional support, and reassurance to reduce feelings of isolation.

Helping with the administration of medication in line with care plans and training received.

Observing and reporting any changes in the physical or mental health of those you support.

Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of care delivered and any concerns raised.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and other professionals to deliver holistic care.

Upholding Somerset Care's values of respect, dignity, integrity, and compassion in all interactions.

Who We're Looking For

You will have:

A kind, caring, and patient approach towards others.

Good communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Reliability, flexibility, and the capacity to work independently as well as within a team.

A willingness to undertake necessary training, including NVQs or Care Certificates if not already held.

Respect for diversity, confidentiality, and the rights and choices of individuals.

A positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.

A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle, particularly for community-based roles

It would be an advantage if you also have:

Previous experience in care, support work, or a similar role.

Experience supporting people with dementia, learning disabilities, or physical disabilities.

Location



We have opportunities across Somerset, including Taunton, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Minehead, and surrounding areas. Community-based roles require travel between client homes; we reimburse mileage and travel time.
