Job Description

Mackadown Day Care Services Ltd provides day care for adults who have a learning disability and complex health care needs, such as Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy. Most of our clients are wheelchair users and a degree of physical fitness will be required due to the nature of the role. We work closely with our Local Authorities, Community Nurses, Dieticians and Physios to ensure the wellbeing of the Clients who attend our Day Service.

We are looking for committed individuals, with an energy and passion for providing high quality care, to join our team across both day centres. Hours of work will be 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

Essential criteria for this post is:



Flexibility to assist with transporting clients to/from the day centre in the event of staff absence, outwith contracted hours

Experience of working in social care, specifically learning disability and complex care.

Necessary training will be given during the probation period to the successful candidate. Support will be offered to the successful applicants who do not currently hold a Level 2 (or upwards) in Health and Social Care.

Extra hours may be available depending on business need.

The Care Assistant role will involve:

Supporting Management in the day-to-day delivery of the Day Care service To carry out your duties at either Day Centre as directed by management, such as feeding, personal care, meal preparation and engagement in activities for example. Meet and greet Parents/Carers, Clients and Day Centre visitors Report to a member of the Management team any concerns or observation of practices that may be detrimental to the wellbeing of others (staff and Clients) Emergency First Aid where indicated (training provided) Ensure that our Clients have a positive and happy experience when attending our Day Centre, and the care delivered is of high quality and person-centred. Ensure Health & Safety legislation is always adhered to, ensuring your own safety and that of others. Supporting the business with transport, should this be required due to staff absence or emergencies Comply fully with Day Centre policies and ensure adherence to the Quality Assurance system Work independently and as part of a team, using your own initiative at all times Promote choice and independence where appropriate Escalate concerns to management regarding clients behaviour, seizure activity, injuries or other medical emergencies Completion of all necessary documentation relating to our Clients Participate in planned training events (mandatory and non-mandatory) and staff meetings as agreed throughout the year.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
