Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Care Assistant to join our team at a mental health residential care home. This is a permanent, full-time position. Shifts are on a rotational basis, so you will be required to work both day and night shifts (8am-8pm). We are looking for someone who is available to work weekdays and weekends.
You will be responsible for supporting residents with daily living tasks, helping them maintain a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment, and actively promoting their independence and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, and maintaining hygiene in a respectful and dignified manner.
Prepare meals and support residents in preparing their own meals, encouraging healthy eating and independence.
Administer medications as required and maintain accurate medication records in line with policy and best practices.
Escort residents into the community for appointments, activities, or outings, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Follow individual care plans to provide personalised support tailored to each resident's needs, preferences, and goals.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and homely environment where residents feel safe, respected, and valued.
Collaborate with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and family members to ensure consistent and effective care.
Follow all health and safety guidelines and safeguarding protocols.
Requirements:
Experience working in a care setting is desirable; full training will be provided.
Experience administering medications is essential.
Compassionate, patient, and committed to providing high-quality care.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work a rotating schedule of both day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
