Purpose of the Role
To provide high?quality, person?centred care that supports residents with their daily living needs, enhances their wellbeing, and promotes independence wherever possible. Care Assistants play a vital role in ensuring residents feel safe, valued, and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care & Support
Assist residents with personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
Support residents with mobility, using appropriate equipment and safe moving & handling techniques.
Promote independence and choice in all aspects of daily living.
Support residents with eating and drinking, including monitoring intake and reporting concerns.
Clinical Support (under supervision)
Work alongside Registered Nurses to support basic clinical tasks such as repositioning, pressure area care, and monitoring wellbeing.
Record observations accurately and report any changes in condition promptly.
Follow care plans and contribute to their ongoing review by sharing relevant information.
Electronic Care Planning & Record Keeping
Use
Person Centred Software (PCS)
to record all care interactions, observations, and daily notes in real time.
Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory and organisational standards.
Follow all policies relating to confidentiality, data protection, and secure use of electronic systems.
Daily Living & Social Engagement
Support residents to participate in meaningful activities, hobbies, and social events.
Encourage a positive, stimulating environment across both buildings.
Assist with mealtime preparation, laundry, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with colleagues, nurses, and managers across both buildings.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and external professionals.
Attend training, supervision, and team meetings to support continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Essential
A caring, compassionate nature and commitment to person?centred care.
Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
Reliability, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Ability to work flexibly across both buildings as required.
Confidence using electronic care systems (training on PCS will be provided).
Desirable
Experience in a care home or similar setting.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
Knowledge of dementia care, safeguarding, and moving & handling.
