Care Assistant



Purpose of the Position



To assist the senior care staff and the managers to promote a caring environment for the residents through high standards of professional practice which are conducive to the physical, psychological, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the resident.

To ensure that each resident receives individual care appropriate to their needs.

To ensure that requirements are met according to CQC and Local Authority guidelines and in accordance with all relevant legislation.

Summary of main duties



? To maintain a high standard of resident care.

? To maintain a high level of cleanliness & hygiene throughout the home.

? To be aware of the needs & requirements of all service users by maintaining familiarity with their support plans and associated risk assessments.

? To give general personal care, e.g. assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, bathing and toileting where necessary including residents with special needs

? Social duties e.g. talking to clients, motivating and helping residents maintain contact with family and community, organising social activities where possible.

? Helping residents to achieve maximum independence.

? Escorting residents outside of the home e.g. hospital appointments.

? Duties includes domestic duties as required to meet the personal needs of residents, such as preparing and serving of meals, and in performing essential cleaning tasks when and where necessary, these duties may vary

? To be aware of, and report any changes in the physical and emotional condition of any resident.

? To carry out routine administrative tasks including the maintenance of clear and accurate records and reports within the home.

? Ensure that logs / handover books are read at the start of each shift and maintained during the shift.

? To observe general rules of safety in the home and to advise residents where necessary. Equipment and facilities should be used in a safe and proper manner, and all hazards or defects should be reported to the senior or manager on duty. All staff are to be aware of the Health and Safety Policy, Health and Safety Risk Assessments and Fire Risk Assessments

? Key workers to be aware of their duties and responsibilities to the residents to whom they are the "key worker".

? Endeavour to ensure that all your duties have been carried out by the end of your shift.

? To carry out your duties and responsibilities in the appropriate manner as directed by the senior carer in charge of the shift, and in accordance with training received and the policies/procedures of the home.

? To work together with the senior care assistants and the managers to ensure the smooth running of the home.

? All information relating to the residents and staff gained through your employment at Breckside Park is confidential. Disclosure to any unauthorised person is a serious disciplinary offence.

? To protect the information both written and verbal that we hold about each resident and to ensure that only the people who have the right to information can access it.

? Breckside Park is committed to the provision of the highest possible standard of service. The post holder will be expected to contribute to this aim.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
