Are you a caring individual wanting to work with the Elderly? St Gregory's House has an opening for a full-time night carer, to come and join the team at this family run home. We provide Residential and Nursing Care to 28 indivudals and are looking for that special person to come and join the Night Team in this well established Home.
Full Time - 48 Hrs a wk (4 nights) , job share considered
Weekday Nights.
JOB SUMMARY
To ensure that residents receive a high standard of care and comfort within the Home; aimed at creating a supportive, homely atmosphere where residents can achieve maximum independence.
KEY TASKS
When On Duty as a Care Assistant
Under the direction and with the support of the Deputy Manager or Senior Carer, to attend to the social needs of the residents. These will include:
Talking with residents
Helping residents maintain contacts with family and friends
Assisting residents with shopping and recreation.
Under the direction and with the support of the Deputy Manager or Senior Carer, to attend to the physical needs of the residents, at a level determined by each individual's physical and mental abilities, and work within the requirements of the care principles discussed and acknowledged at induction. These will include:
Dressing
Washing
Feeding
Bathing
Toileting
Exercising
Promoting Continence
Assisting into/out of bed
Sluicing soiled linen/clothing
Assisting tidying rooms
Serving meals and drinks
Under the direction and with the support of the Deputy Manager or Senior Carer; carry out other duties which may include:
Participation in Reviews
Answer Call Alarms
Report defects and accidents
Attend staff meetings
Attend training lectures/forums when required
CRITICAL FACTORS
Relationships and communication with residents.
The ability to recognise and communicate any alteration in the residents well being.
The ability to recognise Health and Safety issues, concerning "you" the carer and communicate any issues that may arise back to St. Gregory's House Ltd. Any problems regarding "Health and Safety" please contact St. Gregory's House Ltd's office.
Be empathetic towards the residents in respect of their care requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
It is required that Care Assistants are trained to NVQ in Care/Health & Social Care at Level 2 standard or hold similar equivalent qualification. For those who do not yet have NVQ in Care/Social Care at Level 2 or equivalent then a willingness to work towards such a standard is required.
Ability to carry out manual transference correctly is essential. Training is an integral part of the role of a "Care Assistant" and St. Gregory's House Ltd. expects all training forums and training sessions to be attended.
