Care Assistant required to support a young girl with tracheostomy and complex health needs in Plymouth.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ocean Healthcare is looking for an experienced Care Assistant to support a young, non-mobile girl with complex health needs in Plymouth. She is quadriplegic following treatment for a rare cancer that resulted in a high spinal cord injury, and she requires full support with personal care, mobility and care needs.

She has a tracheostomy and uses ventilation support, with some assistance needed for suctioning and airway clearance. You'll also support her with tube feeding, catheter and bowel care, and help her stay comfortable and safe throughout the night.

She currently receives most of her nutrition via a feeding tube, though she is able to take small amounts orally.

She has limited verbal communication due to her tracheostomy, but she has a clear personality, is able to express herself and is very much involved in making decisions about her own care.

She also loves to play and be creative - spending time on her iPad, using her imagination and enjoying painting, which she does using her mouth. She is currently in hospital but will soon be living at home with her parents.

Shift Details:

20:00-08:00 Monday to Sunday

Note: Ideally, you'll be able to commit to 3-4 shifts per week to provide consistency of care, but we're happy to discuss your availability. Please get in touch to discuss further.

Pay Rates:

14.80 p/hr Monday-Thursday

15.05 p/hr Friday

17.05 p/hr Saturday-Sunday

20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays
