Purpose of position:

To provide personal care and support to people in their own homes for whom the agency has agreed to provide a service in line with an agreed care and support plan. To care for service users in non-discriminatory ways, respecting each user's dignity, individuality, cultural and social background and independence. To work with other staff employed by the agency and where involved with staff from other services in order to provide an integrated approach to people's health and care. Contributing to activities in a safe way, keeping and filing clear records, keeping to regulations, following the agreed way of working. Respecting confidentiality by not discussing any personal information on individuals or staff with unauthorised people, and storing records securely. To work in partnership with users' family members and friends who are involved in their care and support. To contribute to individual wellbeing.

Principal responsibilities In line with an individual's plan of care and support:



Help with their activities of daily living, e.g. getting up in the morning, going to bed at nights, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and toilet arrangements o help service users overcome any mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including helping in the use and care of aids and personal equipment o help make a person physically comfortable by, eg, making and changing beds, tidying rooms, doing light cleaning, laundry and emptying commodes where used o help with their eating and drinking by, eg, preparing meals, snacks and drinks and helping users to eat and drink if they cannot or have difficulty in doing this by themselves o contribute to specialised care plans, eg for people with dementia, re-enablement or people with continence difficulties o help users take their prescribed medication (as specified on their care plans) o contribute to the care of service users who are temporarily sick and needing, eg minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding, etc o contribute as needed to a person's end-of-life care o promote users' mental and physical activity by, eg, talking to them, helping them do things for themselves, prompting, taking them shopping, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations o read and write reports, and take part in staff and service users' meetings and in training activities as directed. o comply with the agency's guidelines and policies at all times, eg in respect of dress code, wearing of identity badges, travelling and security and safeguarding of service users o report to the agency manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user o encourage and enable service users to remain as independent as possible o perform such other duties as may reasonably be required

Person specification:



The job holder must be: o self-motivated o organised o flexible o caring o sensitive to the needs of others and to the needs of vulnerable people o an active team player but also able to work on own initiative o a good communicator o able to follow care planning requirements and instructions. o complete Care Certificate within 3 month period o enrol for QCF/RFQ level 2 after 1 year

The job holder must:

Be flexible in terms of availability, working hours, adaptability Carers must be flexible to work early mornings, afternoon including weekends & bank holidays. Must be energetic and be able to travel around the borough. Must be ready for an immediate start. Must attend for induction and other relevant training as and when required. All applicants must provide a valid work permit/passport. All applicants must declare their right to work/work eligibility status prior to start. All employment will be subjected to satisfactory references and all clear Enhanced DBS Check

CORE WORKING HOURS FEMALE: (AT LEAST BE AVILABLE FOR THE BELOW 2 SLOTS INCLUDING WEEKENDS)



15:00 pm to 17:00 pm 18:00 pm to 22:00 pm

CORE WORKING HOURS MALE: (AT LEAST BE AVILABLE FOR 2 SLOTS INCLUDING WEEKENDS)



07:00 am to 09:00 am 15:00 pm to 17:00 pm 18:00 pm to 22:00 pm Have previous experience of care work Have their own transport o have knowledge of local neighbourhoods. All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment.
All staff are expected to respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974.
