Care Assistant

URGENT, part time (21 hours)

Are you a patient, empathetic caregiver who takes pride in helping others maintain their independence? We are seeking a dedicated

Care Assistant

to provide high-quality, person-centered support to a lady living in her own home in Rushden.

About the Client

She lives with

Mixed Dementia (Vascular and Alzheimer's)

, as well as

Type 2 Diabetes

and

Hypertension

. She can sometimes be reluctant to accept support. We are looking for someone who can build a rapport based on mutual respect and understanding.

Key Responsibilities

Health Management:

Monitoring and supporting dietary and medication compliance, specifically regarding her Diabetes and Hypertension.

Safety & Mobility:

Providing gentle supervision with movement to minimize the risk of falls, as her mobility can be unstable.

Emotional Support:

Engaging in meaningful conversation, discussing the news, and supporting her through moments of confusion or memory loss.

Promoting Independence:

Helping her manage daily tasks while encouraging her to do as much for herself as she safely can.

Professional Advocacy:

Acting as a calm and reassuring presence when she feels overwhelmed or threatened by her environment.

Requirements

Gender:

Due to the personal nature of the care and the client's specific needs, this position is open to female applicants only (permitted under the Equality Act 2010).

Experience:

Previous experience working with Dementia (Vascular/Alzheimer's) is highly desirable.

Qualities:

You must be incredibly patient, resilient, and able to handle complex behaviors with a calm demeanor.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal skills are essential to navigate her reluctance to care and to build a trusting relationship.
