Overview


The job sits within Care, which provides older people with high quality nursing and residential care throughout the country. Homes offer a wide range of high quality care options including respite, palliative and specialist dementia care.

The job holder will ensure that they fully understand and fulfil their responsibilities in respect of both health & safety and equality & diversity at all times.

Duties


As a Care Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Provide a quality care and support service for residents taking into consideration their personal preferences, under supervision and in line with Sanctuary Care policies and procedures. Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medication in line with individual care plans and company policy when trained to do so. Deliver personal care and treat residents with dignity, respect and kindness. Provide support to residents to make personal choices that will enrich their lives whilst maintaining their dignity. Ensure that care plans are continually tailored to individual needs with the involvement of the resident in order that the appropriate level of support is provided for all aspects of daily living. Assist residents with individual and group activities, including social interaction, in line with individual care and support plans. Support with risk assessments to ensure that care and support is provided in line with the relevant health and safety requirements. Identify any shortfalls in service delivery and ensure they are dealt with appropriately, responding positively to complaints and any breakdowns in service. Contribute, as appropriate, to special projects and change programmes in support of the Group's objectives.

Skills


The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following skills:

First aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Experience working in group homes, nursing homes, or assisted living settings. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and patient monitoring practices. Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and hospice care principles. Ability to assist individuals with developmental disabilities or autism effectively. Strong cleaning skills to maintain a safe living environment for clients. Experience in home health or community care settings is advantageous. Proficiency in cooking and meal preparation tailored to individual dietary requirements. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality is maintained. Capability for heavy lifting as needed when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
