Job Purpose:
The post-holder will work within the framework of the Care Homes Regulations 2001, The National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Younger Adults and Bevan College own Quality Standards. The purpose of this role is to play an active role in supporting students during the night, with their physical and emotional well-being in preparing for daily activities and life skills, to help them achieve their personal goals.
You will support learners in preparing for daily activities and with all aspects of personal care; including washing and bathing, assistance with toileting and support with the administration of medication in line with the policies. You will ensure that the environment is safe, secure and clean in order to ensure that any risk to learners, colleagues and visitors to Bevan College is minimised. You will assist in maintaining documentation and recording of student information and student progression reports and act as a key worker to a small group of learners.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of a range of disabilities such as physical learning, sensory issues and autism. Experience of dealing with students with difficult behaviours associated with disability will be an advantage. An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care is essential for this role, or you must be prepared to achieve it within the first year of employment. Experience of complex health care needs and NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care are desirable.
