About the Role

Are you a great listener, a friendly face, and someone who loves a good chat over a cuppa? We're looking for

Care Companions

to join our team at Lakeland Care - a local, employee-owned homecare provider supporting people across South Cumbria.

This role focuses on

companionship care

, meaning your job is to provide emotional support, conversation, and a reassuring presence - not personal care or manual handling. You'll be matched with clients who simply need a bit of company, help with light daily tasks, and a kind, familiar face to brighten their day.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Care Companion, your visits may include:

Sharing conversation, watching TV, reading aloud or reminiscing Going out for short walks or local outings (weather permitting) Helping with hobbies or puzzles Preparing a light meal or making a brew Supporting with letter-writing, phone calls or appointments Light household help such as putting on a wash or tidying up Providing reassurance and emotional support - especially for people living with dementia, bereavement, or loneliness
You'll be

visiting people in their own homes

, working one-on-one to build real, trusted relationships over time. Each visit is tailored to the person - no rushing, no ticking boxes, just time to really make a difference.

What We're Looking For

You don't need experience in care - just the

and a genuine desire to help others. This role could suit:

People with a background in retail, hospitality or customer service Retired professionals or parents looking for flexible, meaningful work Anyone with a warm heart and good conversation skills
We're looking for people who are:

Reliable and punctual Friendly, patient and good-humoured Comfortable working independently Confident drivers with access to a car (essential)
