Ivonbrook Properties - Darley Hall Care home are looking for an amazing Chef to cook excellent wholesome foods for our beautiful elderly residents. The position would be 3 days per week with potential for picking up extra shifts. They may have the desire to learn to be a chef or be experienced to take on a new challenge.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES



prepare, cook and present well-balanced hot/cold meals and beverages to the highest quality incorporating cultural and dietary needs as required by the residents and staff of the homes

work closely with residents and colleagues to plan menus that reflect choice and preferences

ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchens to meet the required standards of practice prescribed by Environmental Health Agencies and in accordance to the homes' food hygiene procedures

ensure all equipment used is well maintained, in good working order and log/report any defects to your manager

purchase supplies in accordance with the planned menu, whilst monitoring and controlling the service from suppliers

ensure all stock ordered is consistent with planned menus that reflect choice and preference

maintain the catering budget within set parameters

ensure catering services are provided to the appropriate standards

maintain and check first aid equipment within the kitchens

maintain an accurate stock control

source new suppliers where appropriate

carry out good food safety management, including temperature controls, food labelling and documentation according to current food hygiene regulations and the national minimum standards

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING (IDEAL BUT NOT ESSENTIAL)



proven relevant experience of catering within a commercial or business setting

food hygiene certified

knowledge of nutrition and dietetics

first aid certified

minimum NVQ3, or equivalent, in food preparation/catering

knowledge of kitchen cleaning procedures

good English language, communication, numeric and literacy skills

educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

formal training, or willingness to undertake training, relevant to the job

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



All duties are to be carried out in accordance with the Companies' Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.

develop effective working relationships with colleagues

participate in the formulation of the Companies' policies and procedures in relation to catering services

minimise risk

assist in the implementation and maintenance of the standards required by legislation related to the registration of the homes

set up, and act within, the homes' budgets based on objectives and within the projected revenue

work in a cost effective manner

Follow SFBB (Safer Food, Better Business) system recommended by the Food Standards Agency

solve day to day problematical issues which may arise

participate in staff meetings and in staff training where applicable

support a work atmosphere which promotes a high quality of work life

support and maintain a culture of performance and excellence
