We are seeking an exceptional Care Home Manager to lead our dedicated team and uphold the high standards that underpin the John Whitgift Foundation's long-standing reputation.

The successful candidate will be an organised, professional, and engaging leader with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. You will be comfortable building positive relationships with staff, residents, and relatives, while ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.

Key areas of responsibility



To ensure residents are at the heart of the care delivery and that their wishes and preferences enhance their health and wellbeing To provide efficient and effective day-to-day management of the human resources involved in providing care through the staff team and ensuring that the required standards are maintained To ensure all care planning and recording systems and organisational documentation are of a high standard and kept up to date. To ensure all staff at the service receive formal supervision and appraisals. To lead the provision of a programme of training and development to meet the needs of the staff team and the requirements of the service, including the ongoing evaluation of the training programme. To oversee the duty rota monthly in advance, ensuring the correct number of staff and skill mix as needed. To be responsible for safeguarding the welfare of those individuals supported by the service reporting concerns to senior management and external agencies where necessary. To support the marketing and presentation of the home to prospective residents and conduct assessments on new admissions in a timely way to maintain occupancy. To work with the Head of Finance and Operations on developing and monitoring the budgets of the home providing cost efficiencies where identified. To line manage the independent living manager and warden team and ensure residents of the Almshouses and Sheltered Housing are well supported. To conduct audits and mock inspections of the service and action plan the shortfalls identified. To maintain the Safeguarding and CQC Register for Whitgift Care. To work with the clinical lead to ensure appropriate standards in nursing care are maintained.

Personal and professional development



To have a knowledge of, and work within, the Code of Conduct for Adult social Care. To understand the regulatory framework that governs the service, including the role of the CQC and its requirements. To attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management. To understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role. To network externally and seek out innovation and best practice.

About You


We welcome applications from candidates with a Care or Clinical background, as well as those who can clearly demonstrate strong, directly transferable leadership and operational management experience.
