. The role focuses on maintaining each child's safety, wellbeing, and development while delivering compassionate, skilled care in line with individual care plans.
Key Responsibilities
Provide
1:1 or 2:1 support
to children and young people with autism and complex disabilities
Deliver
PEG feeding care
, including preparation, administration, and monitoring, in accordance with training and care plans
Carry out
complex clinical care
such as epilepsy management, oxygen therapy, suctioning (where trained), and specialised moving and handling
Support children with
personal care
, including toileting, continence care, bathing, dressing, and hygiene
Promote emotional regulation, communication, and independence appropriate to the child's age and ability
Follow
individual education, health and care plans (EHCPs)
, care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans
Support children to access education, therapy sessions, leisure activities, and community engagement
Maintain accurate daily notes, health observations, and incident reports
Adhere strictly to
safeguarding children policies
and immediately report any concerns
Work positively with families, schools, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience working with
children or young people with autism and/or learning disabilities
Experience or training in
PEG feeding
Experience supporting
children with complex care and high medical needs
Strong understanding of
child safeguarding procedures
Ability to support children who display challenging behaviour using calm, positive approaches
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Desirable Experience
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
Experience working in children's domiciliary care, supported living, respite, or specialist SEN settings
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Experience supporting children with epilepsy, cerebral palsy, or physical disabilities
Training
Full mandatory and specialist training provided (PEG feeding, safeguarding children, medication, moving and handling)
Enhanced DBS check (Children's Barred List) required
Right to work in the UK required
