Every single one of our volunteers helps us provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness. We really value the time all our volunteers give to us and you will be making a real difference to our patients and their families at their most vulnerable time.
Would you like to help support the hospice by joining our Care Volunteer Programme? Are you thinking of a career in health and social care? Or want some experience in a care setting? If you are looking to get involved with delivering high quality patient care and have time to volunteer, then maybe our Care Volunteer Programme is for you! We are now recruiting for our April 2026 cohort.
Initial 4-hour Induction session to learn some core care principles. This will be held on a Saturday and attendance is a pre-requisite of acceptance of a course place.
Minimum of 48 hours volunteering on our Bedded Unit/Community Team, 4 hours a week
Commitment to a regular shift, or shifts is required
Approximately 10-14 week programme
A Care Volunteer workbook to complete during your programme
Opportunity to continue to volunteer beyond the programme
In order to apply you need to be:
A minimum of 16 years of age and have completed year 11 at school, or older
Interested in working in health and social care or becoming a Care Volunteer
Motivated to help our teams deliver high quality care

Please note - an Enhanced DBS will be required along with two character references upon your successful application.
