Responsibilities

Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Provide specialised care for individuals with dementia, or other cognitive impairments, ensuring their safety and comfort. Support with medication administration following prescribed protocols and maintaining accurate records. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements and assist clients during meal times as needed. Engage clients in social activities and behavioural management strategies to foster mental stimulation and emotional well-being. Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment. Support with transportation needs, including driving clients to appointments or social outings safely. Respond promptly to emergencies, applying first aid when necessary, and adhering to health and safety guidelines. Document care provided accurately and communicate effectively with team members and family members regarding client progress.

Skills

Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or home care settings. Competence in medication administration and first aid procedures. Excellent caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards clients of all ages, including children and elderly individuals. Ability to manage behaviour effectively and employ behaviour management techniques when required. Good organisational skills for meal preparation, medication schedules, and documentation processes. Valid driving licence for transportation duties; experience in driving clients safely is desirable. Physical ability for heavy lifting and assisting with mobility tasks as necessary. Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, or weekends as required by the role.
