About the Role



We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Residential Child Care Workers to join our team in a children's residential care home in Birmingham. You will be supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), providing a safe, nurturing and structured environment to help them achieve positive outcomes in their lives.

Key Responsibilities



Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to children under 18 years with EBD. Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, acting as a role model and mentor. Promote children's physical, emotional, and social development through planned activities and daily routines. Support children to access education, health, and recreational opportunities. Maintain clear and accurate records, including daily logs, incident reports and care plans. Follow safeguarding policies and report any concerns immediately. Contribute to the planning and delivery of individual care plans and risk assessments. Work collaboratively with social workers, families, schools, and other professionals. Promote a positive, safe and homely environment that reflects the ethos and values of the home.

Essential Requirements



Previous experience working with children, ideally with EBD or in a residential setting. Strong communication, empathy and relationship-building skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. Full UK driving licence (desirable). Must be willing to complete or already hold: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - or willingness to work towards this. Enhanced DBS check (required).
