We are looking for a carer/driver for 4 hours a week every Friday in term time, to transport a vulnerable disabled adult to his arts group. He travels with another carer in an adapted Peugeot Boxer van. There is a possibility for more hours to cover sickness etc. but this is entirely optional.
We need someone who is patient, kind, with a good sense of humour. Someone who is a careful driver, reliable and caring.
You should live near to Croydon/Sutton. This job might suit someone who is retired, or someone looking to fit a few hours work around childcare.
Responsibilities
Assisting strapping the wheelchair into the vehicle (training given)
Driving the vehicle to the arts group
Assisting to unstrap the wheelchair and using the rear lift to exit the wheelchair vehicle.
Assisting to push the wheelchair into the arts group
If you choose to cover for sickness etc. occasionally, then you would be driving to the same place on a Tuesday morning, or you could choose to work with another carer in the arts group, helping to read (he is severely dyslexic), helping with personal care, helping to feed (he can't use his hands), and generally helping him to take part in the activities by moving his arms and hands. The other carer will be there to help so no experience is necessary, although it would be an advantage.
Qualifications
Valid, clean, driving licence with experience of driving a van.
Fluent English
An Enhanced DBS check (we can organise this for you)
