Job Description

We have a fantastic job opening for an enthusiastic and motivated Carers Engagement Worker to join our busy adult services team providing services to unpaid carers.

Primary Tasks

1. Engage and Support Unpaid Global Majority Carers within Harrow.

Lead on implementing community engagement activities and wellbeing programmes for global majority unpaid carers across the Borough.

Lead our community hub and organise weekly activities which include professional talks, training, and social activities for unpaid carers.

Build relationships with Carers leads and other professional within Harrow who can support carers and those from global majority communities.

Attend networking meetings to promote the service and build partnerships, giving presentations where necessary in support of global majority carers and organisations

To work as part of a team and pathway in the support of unpaid carers.

Set up carers forums to provide a safe environment for carers to meet to support each other and to have a voice in the strategic planning for Harrow carers.

Work in collaboration with the marketing manager to devise literature suitable for the target group.

Organise and carry out regular promotional and marketing events in the community for unpaid carers from global majority communities and circulate information about the project regularly.

Link with other professionals in social care and health organisations to support unpaid carers from global majority communities.

Recruiting and training 5 volunteers each year.

Secondary Tasks

Signpost and refer carers to external services either universal or statutory.

To provide monthly engagement outcome -based reports as well as attendance record keeping.

Log all information on a database and collate relevant reports at the request of the Adult Services Manager

To support colleagues in other areas of the organisation as when required

To undertake additional responsibilities as designated by Harrow Carers

To comply with General Data Protection Regulations relating to personal information of individuals of the public.

To comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those relating to Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Dignity at Work.

Experience and Knowledge



Experience of providing front line, holistic support to vulnerable people.

Experience of organising and delivering workshops

Experience of working with external professionals and organisations

A good working understanding of supporting unpaid carers[CB1] .

Knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits systems for unpaid carers & Care Act 2014

Understanding of Safeguarding vulnerable adults and deprivation of liberty procedures

Understanding and Commitment to Equality of Opportunity and working practices

Experience of using Charity log (desirable)

Experience of completing monitoring and evaluation reports

Harrow Carers is a registered charity established in 1996, which supports unpaid carers in in the London Borough of Harrow. We are the lead organisation in Harrow for carers, providing a wide range of support through services and projects. We are affiliated to Carers Trust and Carers UK.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 26,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 28 per week
