Essentials:

The ability to drive is essential for this post. Basic maintenance and repair skills (e.g., plumbing, painting, joinery). A strong awareness of health and safety regulations (e.g. COSHH, fire safety) will be needed for this role. Effective communication and time management skills and a proactive and problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications:

NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance or equivalent is desirable and a full clean licence.

Join our passionate team at M&D Care as a Caretaker in our specialist residential service, Hirwaun in Aberdare and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable adults and the quality of their environment. At M&D Care, we support individuals with complex mental health needs, learning disabilities, and neurodevelopmental conditions across South and West Wales. We're looking for a proactive and hands-on Caretaker to help us maintain high standards in one of our specialist care homes. Your work will directly contribute to the comfort and well-being of those we support, helping create a safe space where people can truly thrive.

Role and Responsibilities:

Carrying out daily maintenance and minor repair tasks--keeping everything ticking smoothly Conducting regular checks on buildings, vehicles, safety equipment, and outdoor areas Supporting refurbishments, liaising with contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations Keeping everything secure, clean, and calming--for residents, visitors, and staff alike
