There's a permanent opportunity for you here at Dalkia UK! We are looking for a full-time Caretaker to join our team, based at a primary school in Liverpool.



You will be responsible for the safety, care, presentation and upkeep of the site. This includes carrying out repairs to the site and premises, as well as ensuring compliance is undertaken and documented.

The Role

Maintenance and repairs to the building fabric internally and externally as required. Carry out plant equipment checks, and log faults as required. Replace lighting tubes and lamps as and when needed. Maintenance of drains, gullies and general waste pipes. Take regular meter readings and log as required. Site security. Operations of fire/intruder panels and report faults as necessary. Safe custody of building keys and key-holder responsibilities. Reporting to Dalkia UK management any instances of unauthorised use or entry to the premises, or any damage caused. Ensure all external areas are kept tidy including external bins. Assist the school in the set-up and moving of materials/equipment as required. Emergency cleaning of human/animal deposits. Ensuring all defects in cleaning/maintenance equipment are reported promptly to management and/or the Technical Services Centre. Completion of planned maintenance checks, including paperwork found in the Caretakers manual. Raise emergency sub-contracted tasks. Assist the Head Caretaker and the site team. Ensure health and safety is adhered to at all times on site and any failings, concerns, accidents and near misses are reported in line with Dalkia UK policies. Monitor BMS systems in relation to regular checks of the system and adjusting times when required. Operate and adjust access control systems accordingly. All internal bathroom waste bins are emptied; soap and toilet roles are stocked as per output specification. All Caretakers manuals are kept up to date. Ensure environmental policies are adhered to. Ensure site specific inspections and forms are completed. Ensure site is accessible and fit for use throughout the day. Carry out full duties during all site usage. To complete any training provided by the business. Assist the Cleaners in removal of rubbish. Assist and support in cleaning if required. Managing on site contractors. Awareness of budget control. Any other duties appropriate to the grade and role, which may be assigned from time to time.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be funded by the Company. Applicants who are shortlisted will be required to complete an application form prior to interview.

Hours of work

This role will be working across two shifts each day 7am - 10:30am and 2:30pm - 6pm

Hourly rate

14.21 per hour

Requirements

Ability to prioritise Flexible working hours/various shift patterns Experience in building / security / ground maintenance desirable Excellent customer service Trade experience (joinery, plumbing and general maintenance) Knowledge of computer literacy

Desirable

Asbestos and legionella awareness IOSH working safely or equivalent First-aid training
