Caretaker - Middlesbrough

Salary:

25,989 - 26,403 per annum

Hours:

37 hours per week (Split shifts: 7:00am - 10:30am & 2:00pm - 6:00pm)

We are seeking to appoint a

professional, skilled, and highly motivated Caretaker

to join our team and support the smooth running of the school premises.

The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment for pupils, staff, and visitors, ensuring the site operates efficiently and in line with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out daily site maintenance and repair tasks Complete weekly compliance checks and record keeping Undertake painting, decorating, and minor refurbishment works Support school operations with porterage duties and room setups Manage key holding responsibilities and ensure site security Assist with health and safety, fire safety, and safeguarding procedures Liaise with contractors and report maintenance issues promptly

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience in a caretaking, site management, or maintenance role (preferably in a school or similar environment) Good understanding of health & safety and compliance routines Practical skills in general maintenance, decorating, and minor repairs Reliability, flexibility, and a proactive approach to work A commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of students
