Job Overview



Benchmark EA Ltd are seeking a compassionate, hardworking and dedicated Caretaker to provide high-quality maintenance support and assistance to our residents at a new build residential block of 191 apartments minutes walk from the centre of Newbury.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for the overall cleanliness, upkeep, and maintenance of a residential apartment building comprising

191 units

. This role involves a combination of caretaking, cleaning, gardening, and minor maintenance duties to ensure the building and surrounding areas remain safe, tidy, and well-presented at all times.

Key Responsibilities



Must possess a minimum of 2 years experience addressing

minor maintenance tasks

, including basic plumbing, electrics, decorating, and white-goods repair/installation within communal areas and residential flats.

Be able to proactively identify and report maintenance issues, faults, and hazards to maintain a safe environment.

Maintain an adequate stock of tools, materials, and equipment, restocking when necessary.

Cleaning, Gardening & External Areas



Clean, garden, and maintain

all external areas

of the building.

Perform general caretaking duties such as litter picking, sweeping, basic grounds maintenance, and ensuring all areas remain tidy.

Health & Safety



Conduct

weekly Health & Safety checks

and risk assessments in line with relevant regulations and guidelines.

Assist with the testing of

fire alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems

.

Report building defects promptly and ensure any safety concerns are escalated.

Allow regular access to external contractors that require access the building to perform servicing etc

Record Keeping & Communication



Use mobile apps to maintain accurate records of daily activities, completed tasks and liaising with residents and external contractors

Provide timely updates to residents and management regarding ongoing or completed work.

Complete daily work logs and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
