Purpose of Role

VINCI Facilities is seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to join our team at Glan Usk Primary School in Newport. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school premises, supporting both the school and third-party users of the facilities. This is a Monday- Friday role. 10-18:15, however there is a requirement for evening works to supervise 3rd party lets.

As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional school environment. You'll work closely with another caretaker and report to the Facilities Manager. The role includes a mix of routine maintenance, site supervision, and support for school and community activities, including evening lettings.

Responsibilities

Supervise third-party lettings (e.g. after-school clubs, community events) Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g. locks, windows, lightbulbs) Conduct weekly alarm checks and fire door inspections (training provided) Maintain tidy and safe school grounds, including snow/ice clearance Support occasional cleaning duties and floor polishing Set up rooms for meetings, assemblies, and lunchtime arrangements Assist with deliveries and general caretaking duties as required

Essential Qualifications/Skills

Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) - training can be provided Health & Safety awareness or qualifications (desirable)
