Key Responsibilities of a School Caretaker

Site Security

Open and close the school premises, ensuring all areas are secure. Monitor and respond to security alarms and incidents. Control access to the school buildings for visitors and contractors.

Maintenance & Repairs

Carry out minor repairs to buildings, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
repairs with contractors.

Maintain heating, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems where appropriate.

Cleaning & Housekeeping Support

Ensure classrooms, corridors, toilets, and communal areas are clean and safe. Support the cleaning team as needed. Maintain storage areas and dispose of waste appropriately.

Health & Safety

Ensure the site complies with health and safety regulations. Conduct routine safety checks, including fire alarms, extinguishers, and emergency lighting. Respond promptly to hazards or accidents on site.

Grounds & Outdoor Areas

Maintain the school grounds, including gardens, playgrounds, and sports areas. Remove litter, clear snow or ice, and ensure pathways are safe.

Support for School Events

Assist with setting up halls, classrooms, and outdoor areas for events or activities. Provide support during after-school or weekend events when required.

Inventory & Supplies

Monitor and manage stock of cleaning materials, tools, and equipment. Request supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order.

Teamwork & Communication

Work closely with staff, pupils, and visitors to maintain a positive environment. Report issues promptly to the Headteacher and Senior Management Team

Pay: 32,000.00 per year
