We have an experienced Site Manager who will mentor and support our new Site Technician to become established and experienced in their capacity.

This role includes the opening and closing of the school as well as keeping our site looking wonderful all year round. 1. JOB PURPOSE



Under the general supervision of the Site Manager to undertake a range of duties to contribute to the security and day-to-day upkeep of school premises.

2. MAIN DUTIES



a) Act as a main key holder together with the site manager to be responsible for the security of the school premises and to assist the Headteacher/School Business Leader in making any arrangements to cover periods of absence within the team.

b) To set and check the operation of the school's heating systems, carry out any necessary meter readings and ensure the availability of adequate supplies.

c) To take delivery goods and arrange safe storage or distribution, as required.

d) To be responsible for the general tidiness and safety of outside areas, in particular pedestrian access routes.

e) To identify and report building, furnishing or fittings deficiencies to the site manager - attempting to resolve these where safe to do so.

f) To set out/put away furniture for school events and to undertake porterage duties, as required.

g) To ensure that staff and pupil cloakroom and toilet facilities are in working order.

h) To perform any emergency cleaning needs arising during the working day.

j) The postholder will be expected to act as an adult role model and support school policies when dealing with students or visitors to the school.

3. DIMENSIONS



This post will be employed in a primary school, normally on a part-time basis. There will be no staff or budget responsibilities.

4. JOB CONTEXT



The site technician plays an important part in the smooth and efficient running of the school. The postholder will be expected to work in a flexible way to meet the needs of the school, combining planned and regular tasks with day-to-day needs and emergency responses.

5. SUPERVISION



Line Management will be provided by the Site Manager. However, the post holder will often be required to work without direct supervision due to the times of work and/or nature of the duties.

6. PROBLEMS AND DECISIONS



Identifying any problems arising from breakdowns, vandalism or other incidents occurring out of school hours or during school holidays. Making appropriate arrangements for repairs to be carried out, as authorised by the Site Manager.

Identification of health and safety hazards and other deficiencies throughout the school premises.

7. CONTACTS



Daily contact with the Site Manager. General contact with other school staff and contractors/suppliers.

8. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING



No formal qualification requirements but some previous experience of health and safety procedures and supervision of premises is desirable. Application of common sense and initiative and the ability to establish good working relationships with all staff, parents, visitors, stakeholders and children is essential.

9. PHYSICAL EFFORT



The post will require some lifting and carrying tasks to be undertaken.

10. WORKING ENVIRONMENT



Maintenance duties may involve dealing with blocked drains and toilets. Also, the use of toxic chemicals.

Some outdoors work in adverse weather conditions may be required, including the provision of safe access to school buildings when snow or ice problems occur.

11. EQUIPMENT



A basic understanding of the operation of school alarm and heating systems will be required. Training will be arranged, as necessary.

Protective clothing will be provided and must be worn while undertaking relevant duties.
