The Caretaker has primary responsibility for all Council buildings.

Unlock premises for casual hirers at the start of the hire period and re-secure the building at the end of the hire period.
3.
Guide new hirers round the premises showing them how essential elements work, informing them of any significant health and safety matters and reiterating their responsibilities in respect of the hire.
4.
As soon as possible after an event, check the building and contents for any damage or missing items and inform the office.
5.
Prepare buildings for meetings and bookings such as moving furniture, and arranging refreshments as required.
6.
Clean Council buildings internally and arrange the replenishment of supplies with the office as necessary.
7.
Clean internal and external ground floor windows and doors and other surfaces at ground floor level.
8.
Maintain a supply of clean tea towels in kitchens.
9.
Ensure buildings and environs are kept clean and tidy and free of litter.
10.
Remove rubbish and recycling and put out for regular collections.
11.
Carry out basic building maintenance tasks, notify the Town Clerk/Finance Officer of any additional maintenance required
12.
Liaise with contractors (if required) carrying out work at the premises; monitor the work, deal with any issues arising or seek advice from the Town Clerk if necessary. Ensure contractors work safely and leave the site tidy.

Provide access for utilities and security companies as required to check meter readings and service equipment.

Weekly fire alarm checks
15.
Ensure civic robes are stored safely and kept in good condition.
16.
Provide cover in the absence of the other Caretaker including some evenings/weekends.
17.
Assist at events as required as part of the Town Council's civic functions.
18.
Act as the Town Council's representative when required in all duties, helping members of the public and generally promoting good public relations.
19.
Assist with other Council tasks as requested.
20.
Maintain good liaison with Town Council office in respect of all duties.
21.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements whilst carrying out all duties and deep clean after food has been in the halls
