Glencassels Community Development Project is a well established community organisation located in Craigneuk. Our small neighbourhood centre, known locally as The Venny provides a range of recreational, social and educational activities for people of all ages living in the community.

We are currently recruiting for a part time Caretaker/Cleaner. The purpose of this role is to consistently contribute to the delivery of high quality support and services to the community through careful care and upkeep of our neighbourhood centre, it's grounds and facilities. As Caretaker/Cleaner you will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the centre and will report to the Project Leader.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

You will be responsible for:

General maintenance of the building and grounds.

Achieving and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness within the property and it's grounds. This may involve supporting Cafe staff with clean down/set up.

Opening and closing, locking and unlocking the building including alarm management and responding to any alarm calls. This may involve some evening work.

Minor repairs

The replacement of consumables (soap, toilet rolls, black bags etc)

Emergency cleaning as required

Assisting and supervising the community in their use of the facilities - including children. This may also include at times taking orders within the community cafe.

Supporting with any ad hoc community events as required, such as our annual fun day.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as reasonably required to support the overall running of The Venny.

The ideal candidate will be a reliable, self-motivated individual who is able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. You should be able to plan and prioritise workloads to achieve objectives whilst remaining flexible due to the nature of the position.

It would also be beneficial for candidates to have good verbal communication skills to deal with adults and children. A good level of physical fitness would also be advantageous in this role. Experience is beneficial but not necessary.
