Hours of work:
2pm-10 4days a week and 2pm- 9:30pm one day a week (to be confirmed with Line Manager), all year round (Annual leave must be taken during periods of school closure)
Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of this post is to undertake a range of duties with regard to the building, site and environment and their users, ensuring their safety and security.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
To be assistant key holder and assist in the locking of the premises, setting security alarm systems and assisting in responding to alarm call-outs.
To supervise the school lettings.
To liaise with Site Manager regarding evening events and holiday maintenance works.
Undertake the cleaning of the school to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
Ensure all toilets are fully stocked with consumables (i.e. toilet rolls) on a daily basis and to ensure that classrooms are clean and tidy, suitable for learning and completing waste management activities (Litter collections, putting school bins/recycling in/out as required).
To be responsible for the general tidiness and safety of the outside areas e.g. the removal of litter and graffiti from paths and hard surfaces, to keep surface drains free of obstruction, to ensure pedestrian access in periods of severe weather conditions, treating main entrances and paths with salt/grit as appropriate.
To undertake cleaning duties and to use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner in accordance with the instructions and procedures determined by the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership.
To undertake emergency cleaning where necessary.
To complete all appropriate records and documentation as required. Including but not limited to: Test and manage the school site fire alarms and safety systems.
To ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and security regulations.
Report all building, fixtures, fittings and maintenance issues/defects across the schools to the Site Manager/Office Manager and/or FM helpdesk.
Report on the quality of subcontractor's work/service provision to the Site Manager/ Office Manager
Where necessary escort building contractors and service engineers around the buildings and site, supporting as required.
Clean up after any self-work activity and ensure all subcontractors clean up on completion of their work activities
To be responsible for the receiving of deliveries of goods and equipment and distributing as appropriate.
Assist with Traffic management and manning gates on schools' premises
Provide responsive and professional customer service, keeping schools informed of progress of work using clear and informative language.
To carry out other duties as required, commensurate with the grade of the post.
Driving tasks i.e. collection/deliveries as required by Facilities Management and on behalf of Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership.
When required, to work at any other school operated or supported by Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership covering absence and/or resource shortfalls.
This post may sometimes require you to work outside of your normal working hours i.e.. for school letting or special events. You will be given adequate notice when this is required.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the protection of children as appropriate, in accordance with any agreed policies and/or guidelines, reporting any issues or concerns to their immediate line manager.
To undertake other duties that can be reasonably expected of and are relevant to the level and nature of the post.

Physical Effort & Working Environment:
The post holder will be expected to undertake bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and stretching in the course of their duties. There may be an increased level or physical effort required in areas for children with personal or specialist needs.
Due to the nature of cleaning, there will be an expectation that the post holder will be exposed to dirt and dust which on occasions, for example adverse weather conditions, may be higher than normal.
